Newborn Photographer Bozeman Montana – Kelly Kuntz Photography
Are you welcoming a precious baby into your world? At Kelly Kuntz Photography, I understand the magic and fleeting nature of those early newborn days.
Frequently asked questions:
What is the best age to photograph my newborn?
My favorite age to photograph newborns is between 5 – 14 days old for a posed studio newborn session. During these first two weeks, most babies are very sleepy, easily posed, and less fussy. As newborns get older they tend to be awake more and tolerate being touched and moved less. However, if you have an older baby (14 days to 6 weeks+) please don’t hesitate to reach out. Older babies can still be posed in certain positions or would make for a great in-home lifestyle newborn session. If your baby is born prematurely the 5-14 day age recommendation is based on the due date vs actual age. I have over thirteen years of experience being a newborn photographer in Bozeman.

When should I book a newborn session?
It is never too late to book your newborn session, however, booking in advance guarantees your session date in the 5 – 14 day window. Most families reserve their session near the start of their third trimester. I understand that your due date is only an estimate and babies come when they are ready. I reserve time around your due date and then once your baby arrives you contact me and we schedule the actual session date and time.
Where will my newborn session take place?
All posed newborn sessions are in the comfort of my studio. I have everything we need for a posed newborn session from headbands, hats, props, blankets, and backdrops. I do encourage parents to bring a personal item or two to make their session unique. Families have brought in antlers, quilts, heirloom outfits, and more for their session. Some families just bring a baby and that is fine too!
Lifestyle newborn sessions capture your family and the new baby in the comfort of your home. This session will focus on the connection with your newborn. I will do minimal posing and focus more on capturing the baby as they are in their environment.
How long will my newborn session last?
The standard studio newborn session is 2 hours, but I reserve up to 4 hours for them. You will receive a prep guide before your session to help you prepare your baby, but if your baby is upset or hungry we’ll stop for a feeding. I want your newborn session to be as relaxing as possible for you and your baby. It is recommended not to schedule other appointments for the same day as your newborn session to avoid a time crunch. In-home sessions are 1 hour long.
Who can come to my session?
My studio is small. It is best to keep the session for immediate family only. If you’re coming without your partner you’re welcome to bring your mom, friend, etc.
Can I bring siblings to the session?
Absolutely!! The family is an important part of your newborn session. I encourage siblings and parents to get in front of the camera. This time is so fleeting it is important to capture your growing family. If siblings are of the furry variety please let me know. Not all dogs are comfortable in the studio with a new baby, but if they are I am more than happy to include them.
How long until I will see my images?
I post a sneak peek on Facebook or Instagram 3 – 5 days after your session (if you choose) and then present a gallery of proofs to you within two weeks.
